What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God and without error in the original writing. It is the only completely trustworthy revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men and is to be understood plainly and historically as the final authority for Christian faith and life.

(Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32; Luke 4:16-21; II Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17; II Peter 1:3-4; 19-21;     I Corinthians 14:37; Revelation 22:18,19)

God the Father

We believe in one true eternal God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and existing in three co-equal persons – the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, having the same attributes yet individual.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; II Corinthians 13:14; I Timothy 3:16)

God the Son – Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit and promised Messiah who became man without ceasing to be God. He had no sin or sin nature making Him the only acceptable substitution for all who believe on Him. He accomplished our redemption through his death on the Cross and our redemption is made sure by His literal physical resurrection from the dead and is ascended into the heavens. He is preparing a place for His people, intervenes on their behalf, is the Head of His church, He completes every believer, and will personally return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead in which His kingdom will have no end.
(Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35; John 1:1, 2, 14; Acts 1:3-9; I Corinthians 12:27; 15:3-8;                   II Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:20-22; Philippians 2:9; Colossians 3:1;                               I Thessalonians 4:13-17; I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 4:14-15; 6:20; 8:6; I Peter 2:21; 5:1-2;      I John 3:5-8; Revelation ch.20-22)

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, bears witness to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and glorifies Him. Today, He convicts men and is the Agent for renewing man in which He seals, sets apart, guides, teaches, and enables the believer for godly service. Baptism of the Spirit means we are placed in the family of God. Filling of the Spirit means the Spirit controls us.
(Genesis 1:1-3; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:8; Luke 1:35; 3:5-6; 24:49; John 1:33; 14:16,17; 16:8-11; Acts 5:30-32; 11:16; Romans 8; Ephesians 1:13-14; 5:8; I Corinthians 12:13; Hebrews 9:14)

Satan, Demons, and Angels

We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, the Devil. He was created by God as an angel, but through rebellion, became the enemy of God and of all humans. He became the unholy god of this age, the ruler of all the powers of darkness, and is destined to eternal judgment in the Lake of Fire. We believe in the reality of angels, created by God as His servants. Some angels chose to rebel with Satan against God and are usually referred to as demons.
(Matthew 4:1-11; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; II Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10; Colossians 1:6; Mark 1:13; Hebrews 1:6-7,14; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6; Revelation 12:9)

Mankind

We believe man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore separated from God’s holiness and destined to eternal death. Restoration to God can be individually received by no effort of our own but through trusting and depending solely in the work of the Jesus Christ, who through His death became the only substitution for our sin, acceptable to God the Father. At the point an individual places their trust in the work of Christ, their sins are covered, the righteousness of Christ is credited to them, and they are restored to right fellowship with God. The control of sin over the individual is broken and the Holy Spirit indwells or takes up residency in them to obey God. The believer becomes recipient of both the family and kingdom of God, and moves from the law to grace. There will be a bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to glorification and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and an everlasting real and conscious punishment.
(Jonah 2:9; Isaiah 53:4-7; Matthew 18:11; John 1:12; ch.3; 10;28,29; Acts 15:11; 16:20-33; romans 3:23-25; 6:23; 7:4-6; 8:35-39; 10:9-13; I Corinthians 5:3; II Corinthians 5:17;, 21; Galatians 5:13-26; Ephesians 2:1; 8; 4:24; 5:7-11; Philippians 1:6; 2:7,8; Colossians 2:13; 3:10; Hebrews 2:14-17; I Peter 2:24, 3:18; II Peter 1:4; I John 3:8-9, 4:10; 5:1; Jude 1)

The Family

We believe god has ordained the family as a foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a covenant commitment for a lifetime. God uniquely reveals the union between Christ and His church through marriage. Marriage is a picture of the love and respect between Christ and the Church in its provision of companionship, the unique opportunity for sexual expression and pleasure through biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15-25; Exodus 2:10; Romans 1:18-32; I Corinthians 7:1-16; Ephesians 5:22-6:4)

The Gospel

We believe God desires His people to be involved in a lifelong process of growth which entails the believer putting of old habits and thought patterns that are contrary to Him, and replacing them with godly patterns. While no one can be perfected in this life, God does expect and commands us to continue to work at growing in obedience and change. We are to do this through focusing on our walk with God through the person of the Holy Spirit. He is the gift that has been given to every believer for enablement. This process requires dedicating ourselves to the service of our Lord and to His authority over our lives.
(John 17:17; Romans 12:1-13; ch.14; 15:1-2; I Corinthians 1:30; 9:24-27; II Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 4:22-24; 5:25-27; 6:7-8; Philippians 3:13; Colossians 2:9-11; 3:12-14; I Thessalonians 4:3,4; 5:23, 24; Hebrews 10:10-14; James 1:22-25;
II Peter 3:18; I John 3:2; Jude 24,25; Revelation 22:11)

The Local Church

We believe true Church is composed of all such persons who through faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated and are united together into the family of God. Those who are members of the true Church are eligible for membership in the local church which is the visible expression of the family of God and is God’s primary vehicle by which He chooses to fulfill His program today. Every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern it’s own affairs. The two Biblical offices given the local church are that of pastors/elders, who fulfill the spiritual office of Elder/Bishop/Shepherd and deacons, who fulfill the office of Servant. The church exists to unite and equip believers for God’s service. This is accomplished as the body grows in the grace and wisdom of God. They are to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those they come in contact with and observe the ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Table.
(Acts 2:41-47; 15:13-18; 20:17-29; Romans 16:1-5; I Corinthians 1:2; ch.12, 16:1-2; Ephesians 1:22, 23; 3:1-6; 4:11; 5:23; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; I Timothy 3:1-13; I Thessalonians 1:1; Hebrews 1-:24-36; Revelation 3:2)

The Ordinances
We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer in water after salvation. This symbol of our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior is a testimony of our death to sin and our resurrection to a new life. (Acts 2:41-42; 8:36-39; Romans 6:1-5)
We believe that the Lord’s Supper, or communion, is a symbol of Christ’s death until He returns. It should always include solemn self-examination, confession of sin, and treated with great respect. Only those who are trusting Christ as Savior should participate.
(Luke 22:14-20; I Corinthians 11:23-28)
Israel

We believe in the sovereign selection of Israel as God’s eternal, covenant people. Israel is now dispersed because of the rejection of Christ. Israel will be kept, gathered again in the Holy Land, and saved at the Second Coming of Christ. We believe that the Church and Israel are distinct and unique. (Genesis 13:14-17; Leviticus 26:33; Nehemiah 1:8; Romans 11:1-32)
